Bhubaneswar: BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi June 8. According to sources, Naveen along with a team from his Council of Ministers would meet Modi to congratulate him for taking over charge as the PM for the second time and press for crucial demands including financial aid to undertake restoration work in the aftermath of Cyclone Fani.

Congress announces candidates for 7 Lok Sabha, 20 Assembly seats in Odisha - Orissapost

Bhubaneswar : The Congress announced Friday the names of seven Lok Sabha candidates in Odisha for the upcoming elections. State Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik’s son Navajyoti will be contesting from the Balasore constituency while spokesperson for the party in Odisha, Satya Prakash Nayak is contesting from the Puri seat. The party has also nominated two women candidates among the seven declared for the Lok Sabha polls. Along with the seven Lok Sabha seats, the party has also announced the names of 20 candidates for the Assembly segment. The names of the other candidates are Fakir Mohan Naik (Keonjhar-ST), Madhumita Sethi (Bhadrak-SC), Brig KP SinghDeo (Dhenkanal), Dharanidhar Nayak (Kendrapada), Pratima Mallick (Jagatsinghpur-SC). Ahmedabad: Indicating that Bharatiya Janata Party is eyeing to conquer West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Sunday that the people in the eastern state are wishing for Gujarat-like development. Modi recalled that ever since the 2014 elections, the story of Gujarat’s development initiatives had reached all corners of the country even before he reached various places for campaigning. “I watched a social media interview of an elderly woman in West Bengal where she kept on repeating Modi-Modi. But when asked who she will vote for, she said she will vote for the communists,” he said. “When she was asked why, since she wanted Gujarat like development, she said this is Bengal, we can’t say all this publicly, you never know what happens to you,” Modi said during his first speech in Gujarat after the 2019 landslide victory in the Lok Sabha battle.
