Bhubaneswar: BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi June 8. According to sources, Naveen along with a team from his Council of Ministers would meet Modi to congratulate him for taking over charge as the PM for the second time and press for crucial demands including financial aid to undertake restoration work in the aftermath of Cyclone Fani.

Bhubaneswar: A day after a video came to fore where union minister Dharmendra Pradhan was seen shouting at Election Commission flying squad members and asking them if they inspect Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s vehicles, another video surfaced today that shows the officials actually inspecting Naveen’s chopper. According to reports, the sudden inspection was carried out Tuesday at Rourkela. Reports further further suggest that unlike Dharmendra, Naveen sat in the chopper all through the inspection and cooperated with the investigators. Congress announces candidates for 7 Lok Sabha, 20 Assembly seats in Odisha - Orissapost

Bhubaneswar : The Congress announced Friday the names of seven Lok Sabha candidates in Odisha for the upcoming elections. State Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik’s son Navajyoti will be contesting from the Balasore constituency while spokesperson for the party in Odisha, Satya Prakash Nayak is contesting from the Puri seat. The party has also nominated two women candidates among the seven declared for the Lok Sabha polls. Along with the seven Lok Sabha seats, the party has also announced the names of 20 candidates for the Assembly segment. The names of the other candidates are Fakir Mohan Naik (Keonjhar-ST), Madhumita Sethi (Bhadrak-SC), Brig KP SinghDeo (Dhenkanal), Dharanidhar Nayak (Kendrapada), Pratima Mallick (Jagatsinghpur-SC). Bhubaneswar: Naveen Patnaik, who won the state elections with a resounding margin, took oath as the Chief Minister for a fifth consecutive term Wednesday. A 20-member Council of Ministers also took oath along with Patnaik at the Idco Exhibition Grounds here. The Chief Minister-designate was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Ganeshi Lal. The newly-elected BJD MLAs also took oath as ministers, including 11 of Cabinet rank, at the swearing-in ceremony attended by a host of dignitaries. Along with Patnaik, 11 Cabinet ministers – two of them new comers, four ministers from the outgoing Cabinet and five former ministers were also sworn-in. Similarly, among the nine ministers of state who were sworn in Wednesday eight were new faces while one was the minister in the previous government. Patnaik and Cabinet minister Ranendra Pratap Swain took the oath in English, Cabinet minister Sudam Marandi took the oath in Santhali languge. The rest took the oath in Odia. C...
