Father-Son Duo Ruined Congress in Odisha, Says Kanhu Lenka

Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress party leader in the state, Kanhu Charan Lenka, Sunday fired salvos against the state party leadership and also blamed them for the election debacles which lead to the humiliating defeat of the party in the state.
In a statement to the media Sunday, Lenka blamed Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik and his son Navajyoti Patnaik for ruining the party prospects in the state in the 2019 elections. The veteran leader alleged that the OPCC president did whatever he wanted.
Kanhu hinted that the defeat of the Congress was based on conspiracies that were hatched to ensure its bad performance in the elections. He said that the party already seemed to have
given up hope even before the elections were over.

“He (Niranjan) stood for elections from two places. He also gave party ticket to his son. The father-son duo ensured the party faces loss in the elections of 2019. Time has come to kick out the people who are involved in making commissions and black marketing. I will work hard to boost the party in the state,” he said.

The leader also alleged that some of the statements of Niranjan Patnaik also seemed to have backfired in the elections.

Jagatsinghpur: Infighting, Heat Wave Rattle Parties

Jagatsinghpur: The election to the Jagatsinghhpur Lok Sabha constituency and its Assembly segments will be held April 29 during the fourth phase of polls. However, the usual sheen is missing in the campaign in Jagatsinghpur Assembly constituency although just five days are left for the polling. Observers said that this is due to the infighting in all parties, the heat wave and the lack of coordination among party workers and their leaders. All political parties are conducting roadshows, meetings and door to door campaigns, but that has failed to impress voters. The campaigning so far has been lacklustre, but was expected to pick up after the third phase of elections Tuesday. This time the BJD has not fielded its senior leader Bishnu Das from Jagatsinghpur Assembly seat. Instead the party has fielded Prasant Muduli as its candidate and has fielded Bishnu Das from the Tirtol Assembly seat (reserved). Muduli is the incumbent MLA of Balikuda-Erasama constituency in the district.

Panda Wanted to Head LS Panel to Help Imfa: BJD

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Thursday targeted the BJP candidate for Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat, Baijayant Panda, alleging that he wanted to be the chief of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance to help his family business.
