Electricity Restoration Begins in Puri

Puri: Nearly two weeks after cyclone ‘Fani’ wreaked havoc in Puri district, the government Wednesday started work on restoration of electricity here.

Apart from local workers, the state government has roped in skilled workers from West Bengal, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala to reach maximum locations in minimum time.

Puri collector Balwant Singh said that the Grand Road along with all the government offices will get electricity by 5:00pm Wednesday while power supply to the entire town will be restored in the next five days.

“We have deployed 524 teams to facilitate round the clock power supply to 29,01,171 consumers in severely damaged Puri district. The state government is leaving no stones unturned to restore electricity to all our consumers,” said Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh.

“Restoring power connection in Puri is a big challenge for us owing to the high level of damage to the infrastructure. Bhubaneswar: A day after a video came to fore where union minister Dharmendra Pradhan was seen shouting at Election Commission flying squad members and asking them if they inspect Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s vehicles, another video surfaced today that shows the officials actually inspecting Naveen’s chopper.
