Senior leader Rabi Mallick quits BJD, likely to join BJP | Odisha Political News




Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader and member of the State Planning Board, Rabi Mallick tendered his resignation from the party Friday. Sources said that he is likely to join the BJP and contest from the Kakatpur Assembly constituency.




Speculation had been rife for the last couple of days regarding Mallick’s future in the party. He was expecting to be nominated from Kakatpur. He had been an MLA from the constituency from 2009 to 2014. However, with BJP’s Tusharkanti Behera joining the BJD recently, the chances of Mallick contesting from Kakatpur diminished considerably. Hence sources said he decided to resign from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.
