Rahul Files Amethi Nomination After Roadshow with Family

Amethi (UP): Congress president Rahul Gandhi Wednesday filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections from this constituency with his entire family looking on after he embarked on a roadshow here.

His mother Sonia Gandhi, sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and brother-in-law Robert Vadra were with him in the Collectorate when he filed his papers.

The three-term MP will take on Union minister and BJP candidate Smriti Irani in what is seen as a direct contest with the SP-BSP-RLD alliance taking the decision to not filed any candidate from the constituency, seen as a Congress bastion.

EC Flying Squad Inspects Naveen’s Chopper

Bhubaneswar: A day after a video came to fore where union minister Dharmendra Pradhan was seen shouting at Election Commission flying squad members and asking them if they inspect Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s vehicles, another video surfaced today that shows the officials actually inspecting Naveen’s chopper. According to reports, the sudden inspection was carried out Tuesday at Rourkela. Reports further further suggest that unlike Dharmendra, Naveen sat in the chopper all through the inspection and cooperated with the investigators. Washington: In a major policy speech Thursday, US President Donald Trump is all set to announce a new proposal to overhaul the country’s immigration policy that would give preference to foreigners based on merit rather than the existing system that gives preference to family ties. It is a move that could end the agonising wait for green cards for hundreds and thousands of Indian professionals. The brainchild of Trump’s son-in-law, Jarred Kushner, the new plan primarily focuses on strengthening border security and revamping the system of green card or legal permanent residency so that people with merit, higher degrees and professional qualifications could get an easy access to the immigration system.
