Bhubaneswar: Demanding acceptance of resignation from a government job of its candidate for the Saraskana Assembly seat, state BJP leaders Wednesday sat on a dharna in front of Naveen Niwas.


State BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty, spokesperson Lekhasree Samantasinghar and the candidate, Budhan Murmu, sat staged demonstration after meeting the political secretary of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Murmu, a doctor at Rangamatia Primary Health Centre in Mayurbhanj district, had applied for retirement under voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) October 4 last year. However, even after six months, the state government has not relieved him of his service.

Congress announces candidates for 7 Lok Sabha, 20 Assembly seats in Odisha - Orissapost

Bhubaneswar : The Congress announced Friday the names of seven Lok Sabha candidates in Odisha for the upcoming elections. State Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik’s son Navajyoti will be contesting from the Balasore constituency while spokesperson for the party in Odisha, Satya Prakash Nayak is contesting from the Puri seat. The party has also nominated two women candidates among the seven declared for the Lok Sabha polls. Along with the seven Lok Sabha seats, the party has also announced the names of 20 candidates for the Assembly segment. The names of the other candidates are Fakir Mohan Naik (Keonjhar-ST), Madhumita Sethi (Bhadrak-SC), Brig KP SinghDeo (Dhenkanal), Dharanidhar Nayak (Kendrapada), Pratima Mallick (Jagatsinghpur-SC). Ahmedabad: Indicating that Bharatiya Janata Party is eyeing to conquer West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Sunday that the people in the eastern state are wishing for Gujarat-like development. Modi recalled that ever since the 2014 elections, the story of Gujarat’s development initiatives had reached all corners of the country even before he reached various places for campaigning. “I watched a social media interview of an elderly woman in West Bengal where she kept on repeating Modi-Modi.
